Julie James’ FBI Series

If you haven’t read Julie James’ FBI series, you are really missing out. Especially if you like extremely hot, grumpy Special Agents who are unable to fight their attraction to the feisty women they fall for. So far there are 7 books in this series and they are all fabulous. I keep checking for more but she is one of those slow writers. But that’s okay – they are soooo worth the wait. Keep ‘um coming Julie!

The whole package when it comes to romance

Great writing, interesting characters, action, intrigue and suspense – and some really good hot-stuff. This woman knows how to write romance. The chemistry is smokin.’ It practically burns up the page. Oh! And it’s funny! Really funny. Just all around great entertainment with that satisfying happily-ever-after we all crave.

Book 1: Something About You

What’s it about? Now you know what I’m going to say, right? You have to read the book! But I will give you a hint. The series starts with US Assistant District Attorney Cameron Lynde treating herself to a night at the very fancy Peninsula Hotel while her floors are being refinished. Unfortunately the restful night she envisioned, followed by a soothing massage and fabulous brunch buffet is interrupted by the couple next door’s very energetic, headboard-banging sexcapades—which turn out to be not what they seemed.

Enter tall, dark and smoldering.

Enter Special Agent Jack Pallas, the one FBI agent Cameron has a history with—and not a good one. Things heat up from there. There’s a mystery to be solved, a murderer to be caught, fabulous wedding shoes to be procured (her best friend’s wedding) and more. Thrown together to solve the case, Cameron and Pallas must find a way to burry the hatchet, so to speak. Or maybe they’ll just kill each other. That would be called a crime of passion, right? 😊

And that’s just book 1!

Book 2: A Lot Like Love

My favorite book of this series is definitely book 2 – where the polished and sophisticated daughter of a billionaire must sneak a beer-swilling ex-cop from Brooklyn into an exclusive wine tasting event. (Yes, they’re undercover as a couple). Truly hysterical banter ensues. I’m talking epically hysterical banter. Definitely top ten, all time banter material, people. Do not miss this.

This one also features a very sexy and romantic trip to Napa Valley, so those of us not traveling as much as we’d like these days can live vicariously through these characters. All in all, a delightful and clever enemies-to-lovers romance.

Book 3 is a very close second – About That Night – but I’m not even going to try to describe this one. It’s just too easy to spoil all the really fabulously funny surprises. You can thank me later.

So that’s the gist of the series – FBI Agents and US District Attorneys thrown together to solve cases/bring bad guys to justice – for the most part, with some exceptions. Some best friends and siblings end up with their own books too, which is a lot of fun.

I have listened to this series at least 10 times and it doesn’t get old. Every time a new book comes out I listen to the whole thing again. Ms. James wisely uses the same narrator for the whole series so that you become familiar with each character’s voice – and they remain consistent throughout the series. While all the characters and stories are interrelated, they are definitely standalones. But you are not going to want to miss a single one – so do yourself a favor and start with book 1 – Something About You.
